When we were young, many of us grew up hearing the same advice: find a job that makes money, build a secure future, and don’t rely too much on passion.
Becoming an artist was often not considered a realistic career choice. Not because art lacked value, but because the art world was seen as uncertain. So, like many others, we chose the “safer” path: pursuing education, building careers, seeking financial stability, and perhaps even hoping that one day we might have a partner who could provide a comfortable life.
And slowly, art became something we left behind.
Yet, the desire to create may never have truly disappeared.
This became one of the conversations in Berseni Podcast #1 — Jadi Seniman vs Cari Suami Kaya.
In this episode, we share our own experiences as two people who had an interest in art but chose not to pursue it when we were younger. Like many others, we grew up believing that there were more important things to pursue first: a future, a career, financial stability, and security.
But as adults, we eventually found our way back to art.
And that led us to a question:
What if the passion we once left behind was simply waiting for us to return?
We may not be able to go back and change the past. But we can always choose what we want to do with the time we have now.
Learning art as an adult doesn’t mean it’s too late. We may be starting from scratch, but the experiences we’ve gained along the way can make the journey even more meaningful.
